Pair of Meticulously Archived Scrapbooks Comprising Clipped Theatre Programs from the Boston-Area, Circa 1893 – 1911. Approximately 75 original theatre programs and playbills, mostly from the Boston area, with photos of stage actors, entertainers, minstrel singers, opera and early film stars. Mounted at corners into two modern scrapbooks.
Includes productions of The Masked Ball, Faust, Rip Van Winkle, An American Citizen, The Devil’s Disciple, Cyrano De Bergerac, Yankee Doodle Dandy, as well as an early stage production of The Wizard of Oz. Featured artists include John Drew, Maude Adams, Joseph Jefferson, Paderewski, Edna Wallace Harper, Anna Held, Ada Reheld, Lillian Russell, James O’Neill, Ethel Barrymore, Primrose and Dockstader’s Great American Mainstels, Al Jolson and Many Others. A fascinating overview of the Boston theatre world of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
