16mo (approx. 6.5 x 3.75 inches). 400pp. + 24pp index. Illustrated, with engraved portrait frontispiece and nine engraved plates (four folding) by William Hogarth. Parts 2 and 3 with separate title pages, Part 3 with the imprint, 'printed for B. Motte' and dated 1732. Bound in full twentieth-century brown morocco by Stikeman & Co. Gilt double-ruled covers and spine, gilt lettered spine with floral vignettes in compartments. Gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpapers. Housed in custom cloth and leather slipcase. 

Spine and boards lightly rubbed and edgeworn, with abrasion at top of front cover; slight offsetting to endleaves; marginal tear to frontispiece; scattered foxing, light toning throughout; armorial bookplate of American linguist and diplomat John Dyneley Prince (1868-1945). Very good. Item #2822
