[Book w/ 3 TLS to A. J. McClane] Oliver Kite. Nymph Fishing in Practice. London: Herbert Jenkins, [1963]. First edition.

Octavo. 191 pages. In unclipped photographic dustjacket, priced at “21/- net”.

Includes three folded TLS from Kite to A.J. McClane, author of the acclaimed “McClanes Standard Fishing Encyclopedia International Angling Guide” (1965). First letter dated “30 January 1963”, a single page introduction and mention of gifting this book to McClane.  Second letter dated “3 July 1963”, a somewhat longer  single page letter welcoming McClane’s invitation to have Kite contribute to his Encyclopedia and makes mention of the Fario Club. The third, dated “2 September 1963”, is a three page letter with a detailed regaling of the author’s fishing adventure in Lapland.

Binding with small bumps at extremites, textblock pulling down and bowing away from head of spine, spine with vertical cloth crease, lower textblock edge with minor shelf wear; offset from dustjacket on free endpapers, minor discolorations in margins of plates and adjacent pages, corner bend on page 79/80; dustjacket with edge and fold wear, small spots of surface wear and paper chips at spine ends, smudging and spots of soiling on rear panel. The letters have light edge and fold wear with small chips, the third with a rusted staple and its attendant loss in the margin. A very good book with a fascinating group of letters. HFP-741.
